Where is the Royal Hotel by Coastlands Durban Located?
The Royal Hotel by Coastlands Hotels and Resorts is located at 267 Anton Lembede Street in Durban City Centre.
It is in a perfect spot if you want to walk everywhere:
- Durban ICC: Not Directly Opposite – But close to each other in the Durban city center
- Durban Beachfront: approximately 15-minute walk from Durban’s main beaches and the Golden Mile / 5 minutes drive
- uShaka Marine World: 5 minutes drive
- Moses Mabhida Stadium: approximately 4.7 km to 5.2 km by car and 4.1 km on foot
- King Shaka International Airport: 30 minutes drive
- The Royal Hotel by Coastlands Hotels & Resorts and Blue Waters Hotel is approximately 3.5 to 3.6 km by road
The location is perfect. I have visited this place multiple times because I live in Durban, and I have stayed in the hotel about three times.
I try to be honest. The hotel is positioned right in the city centre where you have to expect a lot of noise, traffic, cars and that kind of activity. But this building is very well-known. It has a very secure reputation. And it is very easy to find because it is straight on the main street, which is called Anton Lembede Street – well known as Smith Street before,
During the daytime, the area is really busy. At night, it is okay, you can walk, but as everyone knows, the city centre at night is not really walkable. I don’t advise walking there at night because of some of the street kids around. Sometimes you may find homeless people sleeping just in front of the hotel, as I have seen many times, not even once.
About the beach – yes, the beach is there and you have to walk to get to it. But I would prefer someone to drive or take an Uber to go there, because you have a distance to cover to get to the main beach. To get to uShaka and all the activities on the beach side, you have to drive or take an Uber.
That is my own experience, I am just talking about my own experience. That is why most people book it. It is not a beachfront hotel, but it is really the best city location in Durban.

Royal Hotel Durban Price – Is It Worth It?
You are paying for the location, not for a luxury beach resort. You are literally not far from the Durban ICC, a 10-minute walk to the beachfront, and 2 minutes from the main shopping streets. For business trips, conferences, and first-time visitors to Durban, that location is hard to beat.
Prices change by season, but here is a realistic guide for 2026:
