I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times. What I love most is the beachfront location — just a few steps to the sand.
A major attraction for families with kids is the two public swimming pools just down the road—they are excellent for children, fully supervised by lifeguards, and very safe. It’s a popular area, so be sure to book your accommodation in advance, especially before December.

Garden Court South Beach is located at 73 OR Tambo Parade, South Beach, Durban. When it comes to location, it doesn’t get better than this. The hotel is directly opposite South Beach; you simply cross the road and you are on the sand.
As you can see in the photos, this is one of the best beachfront strips in Durban. 3 of the top beachfront hotels are right next to each other here: Durban Spa Hotel, Gooderson Tropicana Hotel, and Beach Hotel in Durban. You are right in the heart of it all.
The location is perfect for families. It is just a few minutes’ walk to Ushaka Marine World, so you don’t need to take an Uber.
You can also walk safely along the Durban Promenade, which is full of activities for kids—swimming, public swimming pools, and plenty of family entertainment. There are also many restaurants within walking distance.
Please note: The beachfront itself is very busy and vibrant. If you are looking for a completely quiet getaway, this is not the place. But if you want to be close to all the action, the location is ideal.
The area directly in front of the hotel, towards the beach, is very safe and busy with tourists. The area directly behind the hotel is much quieter and less touristy, so I would recommend staying on the promenade side for activities.
